Actually Sandboarding is not that new, ancient really, people have been playing on the dunes since the pyramids were being built. However, it is nothing compared to what it is today with companies like Downhill Adventures leading the way. We run Snowboarding camps to Tiffindell Ski Resort, South Africa’s only legitimate ski resort, located on the southern border of Lesotho. Through the months of June, July, and August there is guaranteed snow with the help of snowmaking machines. The resort is the ideal place for learning to snowboard. For South Africans Snowboarding is the best option to get into as it is easier to learn and more fun within a shorter time frame. An early morning drive out to Gansbaai, a quaint fishing village that is now known as "The Great White Capital of the World".Our operator has been running these shark excursions for 6 years. The skipper has had many years experience with the Great White, thus ensuring a 96% sighting rate. He is passionate about the Great White and will leave you with a wealth of knowledge about this incredible animal and will demystify the beast!Non-divers can also enjoy viewing from the boat as this can at times be more spectacular than the sightings from the cage. The Cape Great 8 Adventure Experience - 7 Days

Cape Town, South Africa is rated as one of the most beautiful cities in the world mainly due to its impressive natural environment. Nestled between mountains and oceans at the southern tip of Africa, it is inspiration to some of the world’s most unique and popular adventure activities.

The Cape Great 8 Adventure Experience is a combination of the best and most exciting adventures available in this area: Shark Cage Diving, Sandboarding, Mountain Biking, Surfing, Tandem Skydiving, Abseiling, Sea Kayaking and Quad Biking. No experience is required for any of these adventures, thus providing access for everybody to interact with the incredible natural beauty of the Cape, and have a mind-blowing experience.

We provide corporate day challenges that integrate experiential psychology with activities that Downhill Adventures specialises in. The Cape Great 8 package tours. Adventure tours include : abseiling, cape winelands tours, quad biking, surf school, mountain biking and the Table Mountain Challenge to name a few !
Downhill Adventures provide trained surf instructors with a passion for sharing their sport. We give the beginner the opportunity to learn this solo sport in a safe and friendly atmosphere. After the course, the fresh surfer will gain the confidence to strike out and hit the waves on his or her own. Downhill Adventures offers one day courses and multi-day courses at the finest beaches in Cape Town with wave not to overwhelm but ideal for learning.

There are 3 categories of optional accommodation:
Backpacker, 2 Star Hotel and 4 or 5 Star Hotel

We use only the best establishments within these categories and accommodation is on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

The standard package runs over 7 days (but can be run over an intensive 3 day Extreme Experience or be extended to more than 7 days).

Experience the rush of of the new 'extreme sports adventure holiday'. Guaranteed out of this world action travel !

Day 1 A Downhill Adventures representative will pick you up from the airport or hotel and give you a full briefing of the adventures for the week ahead. Clients will then go up Table Mountain by Cable Car and get a general orientation of the entire Cape Peninsula and Cape Town. The first adventure starts with the world’s longest commercial abseil, 112m off the side of Table Mountain. Return to Hotel and dinner at own expense at a traditional African restaurant.

Day 2 After breakfast, we drive up the West Coast along the Atlantic Ocean to the Tandem Skydive location. After a full briefing and training session, the jumpmaster will fit you out and take you up to 10 000ft in a light aircraft. Apart from enjoying an incredible view, the 30-second free fall will leave you breathless. We return back to the V&A Waterfront for lunch (at own expense). This is followed by a leisurely Sea Kayak to watch the spectacular sunset at the end of the day.

A Camp with DOWNHILL ADVENTURES would guarantee your riding ability and give you the ultimate mountain experience. Departures are from Cape Town and transportation is supplied to the resort. Snowboards, boots and bindings are included and accompanying you would be one of the top Boardriders in the country, ensuring you get the full experience of Snowboard Culture.

Day 3 After breakfast we head off to one of the spectacular beaches around Cape Town and attend a full day with the Downhill Adventures’ Surf School. A lesson on the beach with 2 to 3 sessions in the water will get you up and riding waves by the end of the day.

Day 4 Early start to the day with a drive out to Gansbay – the most researched place for Great White Shark activity. We spend most of the day on board a boat observing Great White Sharks, with the option to view them underwater in a cage. On return to Cape Town we stop off at some of Cape Town’s famous wine areas.

Day 5 A well deserved rest day to explore downtown Cape Town or to do some shopping.

Day 6 After breakfast we head up the West Coast to the magnificent Atlantis sand dunes where our expert instructor will teach you how to Sandboard – very much like Snowboarding, but with out the cold! After lunch we exchange the natural pull of gravity for a motorized four-wheeler and head off on an exciting trail through the bush with a powerful Quad Bike.

Day 7 On the final day we reach the bottom tip of Africa: Cape Point Nature Reserve. We take a leisurely Mountain Biking ride through the reserve with the possibility of seeing antelope, baboons and ostrich, ending up at the point where the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean meet. We end the day and the tour off at an excellent Cape Town Restaurant and a night out on the Town.

The above itinerary is the Downhill Adventures standard itinerary for the Cape Great 8.

Please note that the above adventures are affected by different weather conditions: e.g. high winds may affect Abseiling, high swell may effect Shark Cage Diving. In the event of this we would replace the particular adventure affected with one that is not affected by these conditions, thus allowing the effected adventure to be done on another day in the itinerary.

Adventures are therefore subject to changes on the itinerary days. But due to the diverse nature of the various adventures, a weeks widow of opportunity will allow for all adventures to be run.

Cape Great 8 Adventure Experience booking conditions

Cancellations
-Bookings cancelled between 28 days and 14 days from the tour departure date will incur a 50 percent cancellation fee.
-Bookings cancelled less than 14 day before the departure date will incur the full charge of the tour.
-Downhill Adventures shall under no circumstance be held liable for any refunds of any sort due to any reason whatsoever.
-Downhill Adventures will not be responsible for any loss or damage than may occur on the tour.
-Downhill Adventures reserves the right to cancel any tour with out prior notice. But will refund the client moneys paid.

Bookings:
-Bookings shall be deemed to have been concluded in Cape Town, South Africa and shall be interpreted according to the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Legal action shall be undertaken in the Supreme Court of the Cape Province.
- Prices may be subject to change without prior notice.
-No booking can be taken as confirmed until a confirmation slip has been signed and received by the client/agent.

Weather:
-Inclement weather may cause alterations to the tour itinerary; Downhill Adventures will not be held liable in any way for these possible occurrences.
-In the case inclement weather preventing any activities from being run Downhill Adventures reserves the right to move that activity to another day, combine it with existing itinerary activities or to substitute that activity with an activity of an equivalent value.
-In the event where activities cannot be run, swapped or substituted Downhill Adventures will refund the client the nett value of that activity.

Insurance:
-Comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance is required for all clients on this adventure tour. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that they have this paperwork. Resulting cost from not having this paperwork is the client’s sole responsibility.

Indemnity:
- All clients must sign an indemnity form prior to the departure date of the tour; no client will be allowed to commence a tour without having signed an indemnity form.
- Although every precaution is taken on tour to ensure all clients safety, Downhill Adventures accepts no responsibility for any death or injury or loss to any person as a result of any reasons whatsoever.
- The client realizes that to participate in these adventure activities may require a measure of physical fitness and no heart condition, it is the client obligation to ensure that he/she is medically fit to embark on this tour.
